Speedrun are everywhere, even on Factorio. Today we’ll see the rules, how to speedrun, and some more. Let’s get started!
Rules
Obviously, Factorio Speedruns has some rules to follow:
- The time taken is the real life time, not the ingame time.
- The timer needs to start when the first frame of the game is displayed.
- The timer stops when the first frame of the victory screen.
- Must be a video proof from the beginning to the end.
- The version of the game must be the latest stable or experimental, within 48 hrs from the beginning of the speed run.
- If the speedrun uses a bug and in a future version is fixed the run may be invalidated.
- Mods or using features that are intended for an admin purpose are prohibited.
- The only commands that can be used can be found here.
- “show-fps”, “show-multiplayer-statistics”, and “show-tile-grid” are the only things that can be used in the debug mode.
These are the rules that every seed and speedrun has to follow. Rules may vary depending on the speedrun type you want to do.
How do I record or set up everything I need for speedrun?
So, as I said before, in order to speedrun on factorio you need proof of the speedrun. In order to achieve this, you can stream the run either on twitch or youtube, save the VoD, or record it with obs and then upload it when you’ve finished. You can find a full guide covering this here.
I did a speedrun and I did a good score when I can see all the speedruns result?
In order to see all the speedrun of factorio you can click here to go to the factorio’s speedruns website. Here you need to register and then click on the orange button labeled: “Submit Run”. Now put inside the form all the right information, such as the version, video link, and other things. Once you have filled in all the info click on “submit” to submit the run. And that’s it the run is there and everyone can watch the run.
I want to start speedrunning how do I do?
To start speedrunning on factorio we recommend knowing the basics of the game and having won at least 5 rockets. Why this?
